Wednesday 11th March was National No Smoking Day across the country. The first No Smoking Day was held in 1984 and it now takes place on the second Wednesday in March each year.
At the project we wanted to join in to raise awareness about the health implications of smoking. Jayne, our health and wellbeing project worker organised the day. We had Sheffield stop smoking service attend to have 1-1s with clients and a Respiratory Nurse came in to conduct spirometry tests (lung function tests). Nine of our clients got involved with this and learnt a lot about the impact that smoking can have on their health.
