Neil MacDonald, CAP Chair of Trustees challenged the business leaders of Sheffield to Sleep Out with him on Thursday 4th June with the aim of increasing awareness of homelessness in the city and to raise £25,000 in one night, for the project.
30 Business leaders took up the challenge from companies across the city and joined Neil on the night to sleep outside Sheffield Cathedral with nothing but warm clothes and sleeping bags.
Neil MacDonald, who has been involved with the project for six years, commented ‘I feel very proud to be part of CAP and to see develop of the past few years. It’s fantastic that the Business Leaders’ Sleep Out has raised awareness. Thank you to all who took part’.
It was a dry and mild night with some managing to get some sleep. For most the event was a thought provoking experience. Graham, from Evolution Print commented, ‘Proud to have shared a moonlit night with a group of selfless Sheffield folk. Even the tram works didn’t deter our efforts to raise over £25,000 for the project. To be faced with the thought of going through it again tonight, however, is hard to get my head around’.
The night was a huge success raising £27,000 in total.
