Get your wellingtons on and help stamp out homelessness in Sheffield.
Here at the Cathedral Archer Project, we are hosting a sponsored 5 mile ‘welly walk’ to raise funds to help with our work in assisting people out of homelessness. The walk will take place on 10th October 2015 and coincides with National Welly Week.
At the Cathedral Archer Project, we provide a warm, safe place for homeless adults where people are treated with respect and given the opportunity to change their lives. We help homeless adults achieve a better life through 1:1 support, volunteering opportunities and activities. As well as this, we also provide crisis support such as access to a nurse and dentist, showers, laundry and hot meals.
The walk starts in Endcliffe Park at 11am and will do a circular 5 mile route up the Porter Valley and finish back in the park, with a finishers pack and refreshments supplied by Sheffield based vending company PEP Vend.
The walk is the brainchild of Ruth Lucas, from Lucas Policy Consultants, who is working with ourselves and the event sponsor, the Sheffield based wellington supplier, Camminare Boots to develop the event.
Tim Renshaw, CEO of the Archer Project says, “Everyone is welcome to register and walk, children and dogs are all welcome, we hope to see lots of pairs of welly’s on the day and the people of Sheffield helping to stamp out homelessness with their boots”
Ruth Lucas commented “I’m really looking forward to getting my welly’s on and having some exercise and a fun walk in the beautiful Porter Valley and raising funds with my feet. I hope I don’t get welly envy though.”
