Get Your Woollies Ready!

We've launched our annual cosy campaign 'Wear a Woolly' and we need your help to reach our £10,000 target!

This year 'Wear a Woolly' is taking place on the Friday 12th February and we wants to encourage local people and businesses from around the Sheffield and South Yorkshire area to take part in the event which sees people wearing something woolly – whether that's a jumper, hat, scarf, socks – for the day.

Much like 'dress down' days, 'Wear A Woolly' Day offers the chance to have fun whilst raising money to support our work with the homeless and vulnerable.

Tim Renshaw, Cathedral Archer Project CEO, said: “After last year's success, we brought back 'Wear a Woolly' as it was a simple way to get people involved in the charity.”

“With February naturally being a cold month, the idea of wearing something woolly to work makes people think about those who find it hard during the winter months, plus it allows business to have fun whilst raising money for a good cause.”

Leading Yorkshire PR agency HR Media was the first to sign up and show their support for this year's event, as well as other local businesses like Drop Dead Clothing and Hawkify UK.

Jill Theobald, Copywriter & Content Manager said: “We have taken part in the Cathedral Archer Project’s Wear a Woolly Day for the last five years and always look forward to it.”

“The HR Media team gets involved in lots of national campaigns and events, but believe it is very important to support charities closer to home in our city region, too – and the Cathedral Archer Project does fantastic work to help the homeless and vulnerably housed in Sheffield.”

“As a result, Wear a Woolly Day has become an annual event at HRM HQ.”

This year we are being ambitious and setting our target at £10,000. It costs £500,000 a year to run our project and this covers everything from paying the bills and rent, providing hot meals, shower and laundry facilities as well as the salaries of our amazing project workers. We have set a campaign up on Just Giving here:

You can donate directly through the campaign or by clicking ‘Fundraise for Campaign’ you can set up your own Just Giving. Of course, fundraising can still be done offline if that’s easiest.

We have also just had a very exciting delivery of our new pin badges! Badges are priced at £1 and are a great way to help us raise funds. We can send you a box to sell on Wear a Woolly Day or for throughout the year even.
