Our Volunteers Visit Chester Zoo

18/03/2014

As a thank you to our volunteers, Cathedral Archer Project staff organised a day trip to Chester Zoo last week.

Eight of our volunteers who help out with the running of our project had the day to relax and enjoy.

The Cathedral Archer Project homeless day centre simply couldn’t run without help of our volunteers. They help with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, the lounge, the reception and in our stores. We really cannot thank our volunteers enough so the Chester Zoo visit was just a small way of showing how much all their hard work is appreciated.

Over half of our volunteer hours are made up by clients who have come through our Partner Programme. We reserve volunteer places for the Partner Programme to help homeless clients make positive changes to their life when the time is right.

The Partner Programme is a development volunteer programme for our clients that supports them with volunteer and training opportunities in the project with a view to working away from homelessness and towards employability at the end of their 2 year plan. The model aims to assist clients to achieve their personal goals, through supporting them to move away from street life into lives that are more secure, stable and meaningful. This has helped us gain the Investing in Volunteers Award – a nationally recognised award.
