Sleep In

How can you help those who are on the street and have no one?

This is an odd time and we all know we need to support our NHS by staying at home. Part of what we are doing is trying to take the strain off the NHS frontline and our key workers. You can help with that by taking part in our Archer Project Sleep In and raising money for CAP so we can continue to feed and care for those on the street in Sheffield city centre and prevent them drawing on the stretched resources of our emergency services.

The homeless in Sheffield city centre are being offered beds for the night in hotels being coordinated by Sheffield City Council and support services. At the Archer Project we are supporting homeless people as they are housed throughout this period, and are working with other services in order to ensure that those in accommodation continue to have access to food and support.

We are hugely grateful for the response to our appeal for donations. This money has meant that we have been able to continue offering our much needed service. However, as the effects of COVID-19 become even more evident we want to announce a fundraising event that we hope will raise more essential funds and also be an opportunity for families and households to have some fun.

Our Archer Project Sleep In

Don't sleep in your bed tonight so that you can think of those who don’t have one. When you are together spare a thought for those who don’t have anyone to speak to.

We are asking households just to sleep somewhere else in their house other than their beds – probably for most the living room or maybe a homemade den.

During the night why not play those games that don’t need the modern world such as board games, ‘I Spy’ or organise a treasure hunt throughout the house. But it is all with the present in mind as we want everyone to share ideas about what they are doing on social media. We will be sharing our own ideas and challenges ahead of the night and want everyone involved to do the same, including on the night itself. Through a zoom chat everyone taking part will be able to show off their set up for the night, including their dens, pyjama choice and those all-important snacks.

The link for zoom will be available shortly and provided when you sign up to the event.

To take part all you need to do is join our Facebook group Team Archer or email to sign up, set up your Facebook or JustGiving fundraising page to raise your sponsorship and then get planning your Sleep In.  Emily is also there to answer any questions or queries you may have.

So pick your room to sleep in, get fundraising, grab your sleep bag, your games, your midnight feast and have an amazing night all whilst supporting homeless and vulnerable people in Sheffield.
